The body is always talking to us. We may not listen, but it’s always reporting back about what’s going on with it, how it’s responding to our actions and what we’re doing wrong and right. If you have a problem dairy, your intestine will signal its distress with cramping, bloating and other digestive symptoms. These symptoms can be correlated to eating things like cheese, gluten, strawberries eggs and any other foods that initiate intolerance or allergies. Drink too much alcohol, the next day’s hangover can be a communication so clear and impactful you may never imbibe again. On the other hand, sometimes a burst of happiness or a hit of energy or just some plain old peace of mind, can let you know that you’re on the right track, doing something your body really needs, wants and likes. For instance soaking in hot tubs, a brisk workout or playing with babies and puppies come to mind.

While digestion, immunity, skin and respiration are all exquisitely sensitive to their environments, no part of the body is more responsive than the heart and circulatory system. Considering something on order of one out of every two or three Americans have some sort of circulatory health challenges, that’s good news. That’s because, once we recognize our complicity in our vascular health challenges, we’ll be able to address them for real. This can be done without doctors, devices, diagnostics or drugs and their associated side effects.

In the first half, registered pharmacist and nutritionistBenjamin Fuchs discussed alternatives to prescription drugs, such as foods, nutritional supplements, and physical strategies to better treat diseases and maintain well being. He noted that Alzheimer's has lately been referred to by some as Type 3 diabetes, and that control of blood sugar is one of the most important things you can do to handle diseases of any kind. Many foods nowadays have added sugar, and are depleted of needed nutrients, he commented, but laying off insulin spiked foods such as deserts, pastas, and soda will help to keep blood sugar stable, and certain foods and supplements can reduce sugar cravings. Something as simple as a niacin deficiency can cause memory problems, he added.

In the first half of the show, Dr. Joel Wallach, discussed the human body's innate ability to heal itself through natural means and supplementation. The mainstream medical system has failed Americans terribly-- according to one report medical doctors kill, injure, or infect 15 million patients annually at hospitals and clinics, he cited. The problem of over-prescribing medications is rampant, and patients with a chronic issue are on the average given 27 different pharmaceutical prescriptions, he continued. "I think insurance has been one of the most terrible things for human health," as with this kind of system, patients don't get second opinions, he added.

Wallach believes that most diseases and medical problems are the result of mineral or dietary deficiencies. One study he cited showed that the ingredients in commercially available baby formulas didn't meet the nutritional needs of growing infants. It takes minerals to maintain the health of connective tissue, and a number of conditions such as peripheral neuropathy (pain in the hands and feet) can be improved with the right supplementation, he said. Wallach also suggested that the real cause of obesity is nutritional deficiencies, rather than poor diet and lack of exercise.

So now it’s official. According to CNN’s medical model shill Dr. Sanjay Gupta, vitamins improve the lot of breast cancer survivors - surprise, surprise! Yet despite the exciting headline, we still have journalist/M.D. throwing cold water on what should be an important and exciting corroboration of what alternative practitioners have known for years.

Sure scientific skepticism can be a good thing, but in the face of common sense as well as voluminous research supporting the use of vitamin supplements (just do a search pubmed.com for “vitamins and cancer” and you’ll get over 30,000 articles, many of them touting the benefits of supplemental and food vitamins for improving health and healing of cancer patients as well as preventing carcinogenesis in the first place), Dr. Gupta’s ambivalence seems unwarranted. The good doctor concludes his article, which should be exciting and reassuring for cancer patients, on a somewhat negative note by writing “cautious interpretation is needed” especially for “concurrent use during chemotherapy and radiation therapy”, repeating the tired old medical mythology about vitamins and other essential nutrient (EN) supplementation possibly blocking the effectiveness of pharmaceutical intervention. The unwarranted and dogmatic implication being that somehow using vitamins as dietary supplements can cause anything other than improvements in the overall health and wellness of a cancer-stricken body.

While mostly known for their protective barrier properties, the living beings colloquially known as “skin cells” (and more technically as “keratinocytes” in honor of their most prolific extrusion, the fingernail like protein called keratin) are much more than a cellular shield. “Skin cells” are biochemical dynamos, each one producing, secreting and becoming ultimately a wide range of very functional chemicals.

“Skin cells” make vitamin D, they produce prodigious quantities of skin fats (lipids), and they are also the source of many hormone chemicals. Some, like cortisol, are involved in obvious skin functions like protection. Others, like the nervous system's serotonin and dopamine, make the skin a type of brain appendage. Not to forget pheromones, which are involved in less obvious skin functions, like signaling, sexual attraction and fertility.

Pharmacist and nutritionist Benjamin Fuchs discussed the dangers of prescription drugs and what we can do to avoid becoming another tragic statistic. According to Fuchs, there are "millions of adverse reactions, serious ones, every year" due to prescription medications, including paralysis, organ damage, and death. Despite the shocking number of injurious effects of these medications, he lamented, "we have them branded on television as if they were selling Happy Meals." To that end, Fuchs decried such advertising of prescription drugs because it causes the public to lose perspective on the powerful nature of the medications they see nonchalantly promoted in television commercials.

He argued that "the human body is a healing system" and relying on pharmaceutical medications to cure illnesses ignores this critical aspect of improving overall health. As such, Fuchs advocated using foods, nutritional supplements, and emotional as well as mental strategies to better treat diseases. "I think of anything that we can apply to restore the body back to its God-given state of balance as medicine," he declared. Ultimately, Fuchs advised that people should learn to be more attuned to their own bodies so that they can better understand the messages being conveyed and then become proactive in finding natural solutions to improve their wellness without using harmful drugs.

If you love butter and cheese, you’re gonna love this! Recently a study was published in the respected British Medical Journal showing evidence that 60 years of government and medical convention that linked cardiovascular disease to fat consumption was based on bad science.

The article scientifically corroborated last years’ Time Magazine cover story on the failures of the so-called “Lipid Hypothesis” (lipid is the scientific designation for fat), which incorrectly blamed excessive consumption of dairy products, meat and other fatty foods for heart attacks. The article entitled “Eat Butter” admitted that after years of proclaiming fats as villains, it turns out, they may have been mistaken. Now in fairness, Time Magazine and representatives of the medical model can be forgiven for their ignorance. Fats are confusing! There’s good fats, bad fats, shorts fat, long fats, saturated fats and unsaturated fats. Because of their tremendous diversity and functionality, no aspect of nutrition or diet is harder to understand than the chemistry of lipids.

Because this shell is largely composed only of dead cells filled with protein, the same stuff that makes up human fingernails as well a horse hoofs and rhino horns, trying to enhance hair’s appearance and texture with topical products is like putting lipstick on a corpse. George Noory welcomed Dr. Joel Wallach, who discussed the human body's innate ability to heal itself through natural means and various minerals and supplements. Many diseases and ailments are the result of dietary deficiencies, particularly minerals and rare earth minerals, rather than genetic causes, he argued. In February 2015, the Journal of the American College of Nutrition wrote that 40% of Americans are deficient in four minerals and three vitamins, and to flourish (rather than just survive) people need as much as 2500 times the minimum daily requirement of many nutrients, he reported.

The environment of a person's stomach is important in terms of how nutrients are absorbed, and people will react quicker to supplement treatments, when they have good absorption, he explained. Cancer, he remarked, is not genetic and can be related to dietary causes such as cooking meat well-done, and consuming oxidized oils in such foods as salad dressings and rancid nut butters. The pharmaceutical industry, he added, is only designed to treat symptoms over a long period of time (except for antibiotics). "There's no money in the cure, so doctors always treat people for 25 years rather than cure them in three weeks," Wallach declared.


Why I Love MLM

I’ve been doing "multi-level marketing" (MLM) my whole adult life. While some folks consider MLM to be a scam, based on my experience, that’s just plain unfortunate. In many ways MLM is the ultimate egalitarian business. It's person to person, extremely accountable and a great way to connect with our fellow human beings.

I remember when MLM first came on my radar back when it first dawned on me that I was going to need to figure my money thing out. I was about 22 years old, married with a kid on the way, and unemployed. I was doing all kinds of odd jobs and barely making ends meet, while borrowing from Peter to pay Paul where Peter was my parents and Paul was the IRS. I had student loans and dozens of other financial obligations I had to settle up.

Then one day, my upstairs neighbor Cynthia invited me to a dinner event. It was there that I was introduced to multi-level marketing for the first time and I was blown away. The stories seemed unbelievable, but everyone was so inspired that I signed up and paid my enrollment fee. While it took me a few years to really take advantage of everything MLM had to offer, I eventually found out the promises were legit. Today, nearly 35 years later, I’m a believer and I can report that MLM is the most user-friendly, elegant and egalitarian business model you could ever participate in.
