The Triangle of Disease Model

By far the leading cause of death worldwide are a class of illnesses doctors call “non- communicable diseases” or “NCDs”. These are chronic long term illnesses that are not spread from person to person as are infectious illnesses and that do not resolve themselves. According to the World Health Organization there are thousands of different types of non-communicable diseases also called chronic diseases that fall into four major classes: cardiovascular, respiratory, cancer and diabetes.

However, while there are numerous NCD diagnoses, from a healing perspective, the actual names, which are really nothing more than Latin descriptions, really don’t matter. Whether the diagnosis is Fibromyalgia (literally: “muscle fiber pain”) or Multiple Sclerosis (literally: “lots of places where there are hardening fibrous plaques”), Ankylosing Spondylitis (literally: “bending of the spine”) or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (literally: “muscles that are deteriorating because of hard fibers on sides of the vertebra), the different descriptions are irrelevant to the healing process and true reversals all involve the exact same strategies.

1) Stop the flow of toxicity that enters the body/blood through the digestive system.

2) Lower and stabilize blood sugar

3) Reduce and eliminate stresses both psychological and physical, by leveraging nutrition, respiration and deep breathing and the use of mental and emotional strategies.

One of the more recent doctor described health crises is a constellation of symptoms referred to as “TINU”, a fancy-shmancy medical diagnosis, which contrary to its mysterious moniker, simply means that the blood vessels are breaking down. TINU stands for “TubuloInterstitial Nephritis and Uveitis”, a medical word salad if ever there was one, that simply describes inflammation of the kidney's blood vessels (that’s the tubulointerstitial nephritis part) and the eyes (that’s the uveitis). This breakdown, however, is not restricted to the eyes and kidneys, that's just where it's noticed. It's actually occurring throughout the circularity system (thus the term "syndrome", which refers to multiple symptoms). In other words, TINU is a blood and body issue and as far as restoring health goes, it's not a special kidney or eye problem, it's an overall health problem whose tentacles potentially reach out through the entire organism.

While TINU is a somewhat unusual diagnosis, the circulatory system breakdowns that mark the disease affects many millions of people and are simply a manifestation of a generic breakdown process. The body breaks down as a whole, but because the smallest vessels are in the eyes and kidneys, these break down most rapidly, thus the reference to the kidneys (nephritis) and the eyes (uveitis). To reverse TINU or any other circulatory symptomology it’s best to take a twofold approach by strengthening blood vessels with nutrition first and secondly by reducing pressure on the circulatory system by eliminating digestive stress, lowering blood sugar and reducing psychological stress which can put undue pressure on circulatory vessels.

Use the Triangle of Disease Model to Improve Your Health

1) Eliminate Toxic Foods - Work on the digestive system (Utilize fasting, food elimination, probiotics, and digestive enzymes etc.)

2) Stabilize Blood Sugar - Work on the blood sugar system (Eat less sugar, flour, processed food and drink, use B-vitamins in addition to minerals like chromium, vanadium magnesium, selenium, zinc, etc.)

3) Reduce Stress - Activate the relaxation nervous system (Use nutrition, oxygen coupled with mental and emotional relaxation strategies)

Of course, as always, the Mighty 90 essential nutrients are must-haves (“essential”) as are food sources of quality protein, fats and lots of veggie (non-grain) carbohydrates. These are all things everyone needs to do, TINU or not!
